Wooden Calculator

This is like desk art. I don't use a calculator much, but I wouldn't mind displaying this one, made of Japanese cedar, in my cubicle. I like its organic feel. It's about the same size a 45 rpm record (for those of you who remember how big that is).

$75.00, MoMA Store

Silornaments

These little paper ornaments on suede ribbons make charming tags for presents. They come in a choice of six different colorful silhouettes.

$2.00 each or $10 for six, Paper+Cup

Magnetic Memo Boards

This price is a little steep for a bulletin board, but the design is very clever. Studio Vertu came up with 23 different styles for these 18-inch metal bulletin boards, all with matching magnets. The one shown here comes with magnets shaped like pebbles. I am also a fan of the one shaped like a Chinese checkers board with marble magnets.

$79.00 each, Flax Art & Design

Thomas Paul Pencil Cup

This pencil cup is a cheery addition to any desk. It almost makes me want to run out and buy bright red pencils too, but I refuse to use anything except Ticonderogas.

$6.00, See Jane Work

Haiku Wrapping Paper

This comes with two sheets of each of these two Asian-inspired patterns. The first is light pink with Japanese lanterns. The second is chocolate brown with pink and peach flowers. They're almost too pretty to give away.

$4.50, Whimsy Press

Spike Pen

I love this pokey pen. It looks like a scratchy cactus, but it's a soft, rubbery pen. I especially like the tiny terra cotta pot which acts as a pen holder.

$7.49, Perpetual Kid

Allport Editions Mayumi Gift Wrap

Something about this hodgepodge of patterns is fresh and fun. I like how the various designs on this wrapping paper overlap each other. This one is nice and springy too.

$6.95, Sam Flax

Monogram Paperweights

When I first looked at these it took me a while to see the monogram. New York City design company, Superdeluxe, actually integrates the letters into the graphic design of each paperweight. They all look really amazing, but the M, J, and L are my favorites. (If you don't see the letter you're looking for, try here.)

$65.00, See Jane Work

Graphic Lap Desk

This lap desk is perfect for those days when you have to work from home, but are too sick (or don't want) to get out of bed. Or it just can be a smooth surface on which to rest your snacks when you lie down to watch a movie. It even has a little cup holder.

$24.99, Container Store

No. 10 Card Folio Blossom

This bright stationary set is almost worth the ordeal of buying stamps. Faced with so many cute cards and stickers, you'll have no choice but to dash off a handwritten missive.

$32.00, Paper Source

Dog-On-It Gift Wrap Roll

I love me some little dog wrapping paper. These 19.5-inch by 27-inch sheets have kind of a vintage feel and feature more than a dozen breeds of cute little pooches. $6.50 for two sheets, Loft Party

Snow and Graham Valentine’s Day Cards

If you need a V-Day card for your squeeze, Luxe Paperie sells some super cute ones. I have a crush on the Snow and Graham snuggle bunnies, the "I want to take you out" Chinese food take-out containers, and the "hey there cupcake" card. $3.50, Luxe Paperie

1930s Books of Love

Craving a little old-fashioned romance? Let these courtship books from the 1930s be your guide. These books are filled with amusing advice. ThinkGeek.com offers this excerpt: "All women like to be flattered. They like to be told they are beautiful even when the mirror throws the lie back into their ugly faces." Aww! How sweet! $5.99 each or $9.99 for both, ThinkGeek.com

Snow & Graham Cupcakes Gift Wrap

This pretty cupcake wrapping paper is sure to make a special day even more special, but it's probably considered good form to include an actual cupcake with your gift. Man, I so want a cupcake right now.

$2.75 per sheet, Luxe Paperie

Magnetic Birdie

I almost lost it when I came across this at See Jane Work. This little bird is actually a paperclip holder. There’s a magnet inside that keep your paperclips on it like little metal feathers. And best of all, when you pull a paperclip off (or jostle it in any way), it chirps. $15.00, See Jane Work
