This stuff by Fresh feels silky, but it's the scent that's so unusual and alluring. It is made from sake and rice extracts and has a clean slightly citrus-y smell that makes me think of fresh limes. $42.00, Fresh
Illustrated Pocket Mirrors
I was never that into pocket mirrors until I came across the My Favorite Mirror website. They have little mirrors decked out with probably more than 100 different designs from 22 illustrators. The illustrations range from the cutesy (see “Noodlicious” by Meomi) to the kooky (see “Logs in Pants, Doing the Dance” by Saelee Oh). This one is “Four Eyed Franny” by Sew Darn Cute. It's fun just looking at them all.
$6.50 each, My Favorite Mirror
Blackberry Beeswax Lip Balm
How many lip balms do I already have floating in my handbag? None of your beeswax! Anyway, there's always room for one more from Savannah Bee, made out of beeswax. The blackberry scent is mouth watering. $4.00, Bath & Body Works
Thymes Green Tea Lotion
This stuff smells absolutely incredible. I don't know if it's the green tea extract or the rose oil, but when I put it on, I just keep sniffing my arms. It's distracting!
$23.00, Thymes
Skull Shadow Box
Those folks at Urban Decay sure do know what they're doing when it comes to sparkly eye shadow. I probably wear Midnight Cowboy, Chopper, and Oil Slick the most. I was kind of surprised by how much a sparkly black eye shadow can glam up your look. And check out that rad skull case. Maybe your friends will think it's poison and keep their grubby little hands to themselves. $34.00, Urban Decay
Awake Stardom Lipstick
This is my favorite lipstick. It goes on smooth and creamy, and the Daphne Pink shade is a subtle, soft pink color. It makes my lips look great. Awake Stardom lipstick is also great for those moments when you want to get dramatic with your eye makeup.
$24.00, Drugstore.com
Archipelago White Sugar & Mango Lotion
A lot of times I get taken in by citrusy lotion that ends up smelling like Pine-Sol cleaner or Starburst candy. But this stuff is the real deal. It has a delicate sugar and citrus scent, and it feels great on. It's pretty easy to burn through this large bottle in no time.
$24.00, Drugstore.com
H20 Plus Slipgloss
This lipgloss has a subtle sparkle and feels so luscious and luxurious that I developed some kind of lipgloss OCD. I just kept wanting to put more and more of it on. $12.00, H2O Plus
Jan Marini Daily Face Protectant SPF 30
Sunscreen tends to do a number on my face, but not this stuff. It has some antioxidants, and I don’t quite understand how that works, but my skin actually looks better after wearing it. One drawback: it doesn’t have that gross Banana Boat smell, but it does have a teensy bit of a piña colada odor that I could do without.
$38.00, Amazon.com
Tarte Flush Cheek Stain
I have a tough time with blush. You don't want to looked washed out, but you also don't want to look like a harlot. I dig how you can just kind of dab a little of this on without a lot of precision and get a natural-looking rosy glow. Also, it smells like raspberries. $28, Drugstore.com
Cucina Regenerating Hand Cream
With scents like "Corriander and Olive Tree" and "Zucchini Flower and Truffle" the Cucina line of hand creams have lovely aromas that aren't too girly. Apparently, they are meant to be kept in the kitchen (to soothe those dishpan hands), but in my opinion, Cucina hand creams are way too good to be relegated to housework. $20, Fruits & Passion
Olive Oil & Orange Blossom Lip Balm
I'm a sucker for lip balm, and this one is my favorite. It has a very light scent and, unlike many other balms, it manages to moisturize my lips without making them feel greasy. $11, Caswell Massey
