This nutcracker is composed of two wooden blocks. One block has divots of varying sizes to fit different types of nuts. The other has flat sides. The magic happens when you bang them together. It's somehow both modern and kind of stone age.

Another pretty jewelry design from Nicole Tirona. I love the look of the black glass cameo and the delicate turquoise beads. How lovely.

This cotton top is fun and springy. I especially like the cut of the collar and sleeves. Also nice: the orange center of each daisy on the shirt is made of velvet. Try not to touch yourself too much.

This may be the coolest beach towel ever. It's a cotton pink number designed to look like a pair of shades that Nicole Richie could appreciate.

If you don't mind a three and a half inch heel, these black and white leather shoes look snazzy with anything from a suit to a cocktail dress. I'm sure my mother would approve. Happy Mother's Day!

I really dig this lamp by Ferruccio Laviani. It comes in either black or clear plastic. I dream of pairing it with the Philippe Starck Ghost Chair and maybe a whole Ghost apartment. I'll be like Wonder Woman in her invisible jet.

This broom, which was designed by Karim Rashid, looks good enough to leave out in plain sight. I like how the dustpan doubles as a stand. It comes in black or white.

I thought this looked like a fun idea. You and your husband write out your ancestors' names and birthdays on little gingko leaves. If you're going to attempt this, buying a membership to Ancestry.com might not be a bad idea.

I like this modern take on the teapot. You can pour loose tea leaves directly into the container and add boiling water. It filters out the tea leaves as you pour. (You can see a demonstration here.) This set also comes with two matching tumblers.

A friend of mine recently gave me this as a housewarming gift, and I love it. It smells absolutely lovely, like spring. I may have to pony up for the perfume.
