Janine King Custom Laptop Sleeves

For Christmas, a friend bought me one of these Janine King laptop sleeves through Etsy. I have to say, I'm starting to get addicted to that site. I really like how you can browse for things by color. As for these laptop sleeves, they come in a variety of cute patterns and actually fit my big-screened laptop. $49.00, Etsy

Vinyl and Hanger Wall Decals

This is pretty nifty. It's a giant, Carrie Bradshaw-esqe decal of a coat rack with a small handbag, a stray brassiere, and a single open-toed heel. The coolest thing is that it comes with a real hook for the center of the fake coat rack, so you can actually hang stuff from it. (Click on the photo to see larger images.) $118.00, Urban Outfitters

Year of Seeds

What a cool gardening idea. This gift set comes with seed packets for 12 varieties of flowers (including petunias, poppies, and zinnias), soil pellets, and 12 colorful earthenware pots. You just add water and the kind of caring attention that I seem to lack. $70, Red Envelope

Alba Coconut Cream Lip Balm

A friend of mine showed up to dinner the other night wearing this lip balm, and I thought I was smelling something delicious coming from the kitchen of the restaurant. It smells heavenly. She bought hers at Whole Foods. I can't wait to get a tube of my own. $3.49, Alba Organics

Two’s Company Beaded Bangles

Apparently surfer girls are pretty chic. Or at least the ones at Surf Diva are. I love the pastel beaded bangles they sell. These sparkly bracelets (and this freaking cold weather) make me wish I was in Florida. $12.00, Surf Diva

Laverne Winter Hat

It is soooo cold in New York City today. And somehow I managed to forget my hat. I was really wishing I had a spiffy hat like this one from Horny Toad, a clothing company in Telluride, Colorado. I bought a crocheted hat from Horny Toad a couple of years ago, and it's not only totally cute, but totally toasty. $16, Horny Toad

Love Bus Bird House

This birdhouse is groovy. Now you can tell which birds in your backyard are hippies. And when the birds fly into the Love Bus, you can amuse yourself by yelling things like, "Why don't you get off my lawn and get a job?!" Tiny acoustic guitar and miniature lava lamp not included. $50.00, Uncommon Goods

Cup Couture Cup Sleeves

I'll have a tall half-caf mocha, hold the sleeve. I brought my own. Yeah, these fabric sleeves are environmentally friendly (especially if you are too lazy to wash them). They are also pretty darn cute. They come in eight different styles. $10, Wishingfish.com

Koziol Audrey Flower Tea Strainer

I thought this was a pretty nifty idea. It's a strainer for loose leaf tea that looks like a brightly colored blossom. The shape helps keep it stable on the glass as you pour the scalding hot water. $12.95, Wrapables.com

Heart Watch Necklace

I admit that my fondness for this necklace has a little something to do with my feelings about the Wizard of Oz ("It ticks!"), but it's still cute. And once you have proven you have a heart, you'll only have to endure the people who say you don't have a brain. $20.00, Fred Flare

Pure Grass Hand Lotion

I like to keep some of this handy at my desk. (How some people can just not moisturize at all is beyond me.) I've been using this one from the Good Home Co. a lot lately. It feels great, and I find that the fresh grassy scent helps perk me up on those gloomy winter days. $20.00, Drugstore.com

“Never Better” Skimmer

Ever wondered what you'd get if a patent leather peep-toe pump mated with a sneaker? Me neither. But it's not the Frankenstein monster I was expecting. These shoes are actually pretty va-va-voom and versatile. They also come in red or pale grey. $39.95, Nordstrom

Divine Silhouette Jewelry Organizer

Here's a cool way to organize your necklaces. It's a chic jewelry stand shaped like a dress form in an evening gown. You'll probably only want to drape her in your prettiest strands. Click on the photo for more images. $49.95, Wrapables.com

Octopus Soap and Scrubber

If you have to do dishes, you should at least get to have a dish scrubber shaped like an octopus. The best part is that, instead of ink, it squirts dish soap when you squeeze its head. $7.99, Target

Ring Rouge for Lips

I'm kind of obsessed with plastic rose rings, and now Anna Sui makes a black one with lip tint hidden inside. Brilliant! You can select one of five lip colors. $12, Victoria's Secret
